Delete your data
Smart Bookmarks — ar.com.indiesoftware.smartbookmarks
If you only used the app as a guest
Without a Google sign-in, your bookmarks and notes never leave your phone. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in Android settings, deletes all of it. There is nothing on our servers to remove.
From inside the app
- Open Smart Bookmarks and tap your profile picture to open Account.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
- Confirm twice. If encryption is on, type your encryption passphrase to confirm.
Your account is deleted and the app returns to an empty guest library. Signing in again with the same Google account starts a new, empty account.
This is the fastest route and needs nothing from us. You need an internet connection and to be signed in with the account you want to delete. If you subscribed, cancel the subscription in Google Play as well: deleting your account does not cancel billing.
By email
If you no longer have the app, email playstore@indiesoftware.com.ar with the subject “Data deletion request”, from the Google account you signed in with. Requests are handled within 30 days and remove the same things.
We can only act on a request we can match to an account, so send it from that address, or tell us which Google address you used. Otherwise anyone could delete someone else's library.
What gets deleted
| Account | Your Smart Bookmarks sign-in, and your name, email address and profile picture as we stored them |
| Library | Every synced bookmark, note, category and site, including encrypted copies and your wrapped encryption keys |
| Audio | Read-aloud audio generated with cloud voices |
| Feedback | Feedback you sent from the app |
| Notifications | Push registrations for your devices |
| This phone | The local library and the app's settings on the phone you deleted from |
What is not affected
- Purchases. Subscriptions and donations are records held by Google Play, not by us. Cancel or request refunds from Google Play.
- Other phones. Another phone that was signed in keeps its own local copy until you sign out of it or uninstall the app there.
- Crash reports. Anonymous crash reports, which carry no library content, expire on their own under Firebase Crashlytics' retention.
The privacy policy explains what is collected in the first place.
